Do your Meta-analysis with MIX 2.0 in Excel

MIX 2.0 is your one-stop software for meta-analysis. It's easy to use, cheap (free if you are from a developing country), and extremely comprehensive. It comes in two flavors: a free Lite version for learning and teaching and a paid Pro version for scientific purposes. See this page for more information about MIX 2.0 in general and have a look here for details about different versions.

MIX 2.0 is now in its final stages of development. On October 10, the second beta version of MIX 2.0 was distributed to a small group of beta-testers familiar with meta-analysis. On November 10, beta 2 was distributed to a larger group of people to identify potential ssues with non-English versions of Excel. Most of the bugs have now finally been ironed out and the last beta is now available.

If you'd like to be kept up-to-date on developments or would like to become eligible for beta-testing, register for the mailinglist here.

Although MIX 1.7 is no longer updated, it is still available for users of older versions of Excel.

NEW DESIGN AND NEW FEATURES

MIX is almost entirely rewritten. MIX 2.0 can now even do more for your meta-analysis. MIX 2.0 lives inside your Excel as a regular add-in, and you can use it while still using all other features of Excel. It applies a new structured approach to meta-analysis of exploration, synthesis, and evaluation.

Above is a screenshot of the new MIX tab in the ribbon interface of Excel 2007. The design is still subject to change, but the basic framework is there.

MIX 2.0 has even better graphical functionality than MIX 1.7 and has a substantial number of new numerical features as well. The graph labeling function has been brushed up extensively and including up to six columns with data in the forest plot itself is now an option. And this is all inside Excel 2007, so you can customize the graphs as you like with the familiar Excel right-click menus. Below is a screenshot of a forest plot annotated with data columns.
