Who we are

MIX 2.0 was developed and is maintained by a small team at BiostatXL. The development is lead by Leon Bax, who is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer at BiostatXL. You can read more about Leon here.

History

A predecessor of the MIX program was set up in 2005 as an open source free add-in for Excel for teaching meta-analysis. The first public version of MIX (1.0) was released in October 2005 during the Cochrane Colloquium in Melbourne, Australia. During the course of 2009, MIX was completely rewritten by Leon to include a new interface and features for analysis, rather than just teaching and learning. MIX 2.0 Lite and Pro were publicly launched in April 2010. With users in more than 50 countries around the world, MIX 2.0 is currently one of the most popular software packages for meta-analysis. MIX 2.0 Lite was reviewed by editors of CNET Download.com and awarded the highest rating of 5 stars.

Currently, MIX has been updated to work with all new versions of Windows and Excel, including Windows 10 and Office 365 / Office 2016. It can do everything from creating exploratory plots to meta-regression. The interface is still extremely intuitive and no coding is required for any analysis. All plots are Office objects and can be copied and customized as such in any MS Office product, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Mission

It is the MIX 2.0 team’s mission to provide easy-to-use and comprehensive software for professional meta-analysis in Excel, supported by informative online resources and a responsive development team.

Vision

MIX 2.0 is synonymous with ease-of-use and comprehensiveness in generic and pairwise meta-analysis.
